Marcus Stroman threw seven solid innings but was victimized by a pair home runs and the Giants edged the Mets, 3-2. Pete Alonso clubbed a two-run homer in the 8th to get the Mets within a run. Logan Webb had shut down New York prior to Alonso going deep but the Giants bullpen held on for the win. It was the Mets fifth straight loss and they fell below the .500 mark for the first time since early May.
