This is all wrong. Major League Baseball should have called off their season yesterday afternoon when news broke that Nationals superstar and batting stance god Juan Soto tested positive for COVID, with Hunter Dozier of the Royals doing likewise. Both men had already played in exhibition games, possibly exposing God knows how many other players, coaches, and staff to the virus. As with all things COVID, this is a disaster that will unfold slowly, and then all at once. Does baseball give a rat's ass? Reader, they do not. They bulled through the news as if a pandemic was just another distraction to wave off—WE DON'T LISTEN TO OUTSIDE NOISE IN THIS LOCKER ROOM—and played a doubleheader last night anyway.
