It appears the quality control coach background could be a common theme in managerial position job hunt. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported, citing a source, that Royals quality control and catching coach Pedro Grifol interviewed Thursday to take over for former Giants skipper Bruce Bochy after he announced his retirement. Grifol, in an interview recently with The Athletic said he had been attached to the Royals organization for several years and was a part of the World Series run and gushed about being a part of Kansas City after long-time manager Ned Yost announced he would be retiring as well.
