Giants acquire Garko

Good for the rankings. From what I've heard on KNBR and seen and numerous web sites is that he was considered our 8th best pitching prospect. It was a single A prospect for a known commodity, not to mention Wheeler was a top ten pick so when I talk about pitching prospects I'm going to mention him. You have your opinion I have mine. You really no knothing when it comes to how our oranization ranks players in our farm system nor do I. I just know that Brian told a KNBR member that he wasn't a top 5 pitching prospect, so I going to lean towards his rankings/words. I'm glad you got a kick out of my post though. LOL.

First of all I wouldnt believe or trust Sabean as far as I can throw his fat ass. I seriously doubt he is going to rank our pitchers for anyone including KNBR. If Barnes was in fact the 8th ranked pitching prospect I sure would like to see the ones ahead of him. Bumgarner, Alderson, Wheeler and ?????????? Wheeler isnt even signed yet but I will give you him. There is certainly no one in Fresno with more talent. Maybe Sosa in Conneticut.

Just curious.. since you referenced this. What are the "numerous" sites that had Barnes ranked as our 8th rated pitching prospect. You do understand I hope that these rankings were done before the year started and before Barnes pretty much has torn up the High Class A league?

Let me share a couple with you. Baseball America is pretty much the bible on minor league prospects

I am not saying that the Garko deal was awful. The Giants do have some depth and hopefully Garko will provide help primarily against LH pitching. What I am saying is that Barnes was a pretty highly ranked prospect and I think we gave up more than we probably had to. Hell.. Cleveland gave up Cliff Lee, the reigning CY Young award winner for guys no better than Barnes.

Well.. no they didnt. In fact they did not give up any of their top 3 prospects. Those were the guys that Toronto wanted for Halliday. It is shocking that they didnt have to give up any of them for Lee

Kyle Drabek - ranked #1
Michael Taylor ranked 2
Dominick Brown ranked 3

Now.. they did give up 4 of their top 10 prospects but none rated as high as Alderson and none of their truly TOP prospects. Philly got a steal in this one.

They gave up alot. Not thier best but alot. They got alot in return though. They have Lee for this and next year. I really don't like the Sanchez trade at all though.
