I think that's a good deal, depending on the PTBNL.
I still see Garko in the Cleveland lineup, so I'm waiting to see him scratched.

I don't know why Ishi couldn't stick around as a pinch hitter, defensive replacement, and platoon player with Garko.

Ehh. It's really not that good of a deal. Unless Garko comes out and starts smashing balls into the bleacher he really isn't much better than Ishikawa. Plus Ishi's glove is a lot better than Garko's.

Just saw this posted on Twitter
Contrary to a report out there, there is not a player to be named component to the Garko deal. It is Garko for Barnes, straight up.9 minutes ago from web
Anthony Castrovince
IF that is true then this is a great deal for the number 9 pitching prospect.

And there it is on MLB.com. Garko has been pulled from the Cleveland lineup.

Actually him being cheap was a good deal..but what happens to Ish?

Garko is pretty much an improvement over anyone hitting in the Giants lineup, except for Pablo.
Good deal, but I do not think Sabean is done.

Good. We've been looking for a RH 1B. I really like Garko and we didn't have to give up much for him. His ability to play in the OF as well should allow Ishi to still get some playing time.
He's not a huge HR guy but he does have some pop. IMO he'd easily be a middle of the order bat in our weak lineup.

Yup, pretty much. After looking at the players we were rumored to be in the running for, Garko was my favorite (when factoring in need as well as what we would have to give up). Pretty excited we acquired him, and for what seems like a pretty low price, and he should see significant playing time with us.

Not a bad trade. Gotta be better than ishi. Plus he's righthanded and it's easier to hit it out in left and he's an everyday first baseman. I was afraid of who we might give up but I never heard of this kid so I like it.

I like Garko but yeah, I hope we're not done. We can count out Victor Martinez now (didn't think we'd get him anyway). Hopefully we can add Todd Willingham...now that'd be nice to get Garko and Willingham.
