Rumor..Fred Lewis/Alderson for Matt Holliday

I saw this on pro sports daily..

He's what he said on his first post on sfgtraderumors.blogspot.com

"Im Matt to introduce myself. I talk Giants baseball. I have inside information from Larry Baer that the Giants have aquired Matt Holliday from the A's for Fred Lewis and Tim Alderson.

I am constantly in touch with Bear, in fact we are close friends

More will come shortly, with a link once I get one."

WOW! I even called my friend Matt and he was as shocked as me. What do you think. I am ok with giving up Alderson for Holliday, and I could care less about Lewis. YES!

I'd be skeptical of this report.

Sabean and Beane have NEVER made a deal. Even Raj Davis was cut before the A's took him.

The Giants don't want to give the draft picks it would require to the A's and then have to watch them develop into something in their backyard.
Well the thread was deleted on PSD..so I doubt this is true.

How could you possibly be OK with trading a 20 year old stud pitcher who was a #1 draft pick and has torn up the minors in his first 2 years for a rent a player that would be on the team for 2 months MAX. Think son think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sorry. I thought you said that you were OK with trading Alderson for Holiday. My bad. That other guy needs to get a clue then. If Holiday had a couple of years on his contract then I would do that for sure.
Not cool, the dude does not abide

all good..i could see why you would get confused
Only problem with signing Holiday is the whole contract issue...if we could somehow sign him for longer I'd be more on board.

This isn't just a issue with Holliday but anyone appoaching free agency. Especially a right handed hitter considering playing at ATT.

Basically all players earn their contracts through the numbers they produce and if they play their homegames here they will skew their numbers down in relation with others as they play toward their next contract.

No hitter other than Bonds and those who hit in front and behind him has ever had their best numbers season in this park, other than Molina who had never hit in the heart of an order.(for obvious reasons)

Add to that the fickle nature of Bay Area sports fans and the little adulation they accord players in SF and you have a lot of negatives you have to overcome to get ego driven stars to come here.

Especially if they are from less cosmopolitan and diverse areas of the US, or from abroad.

The Giants may have to shift their stratagy to acquiring players already under two year deals and let them get acclimated to the baseball situation here before breaking the bank on signings of players who ultimately won't be happy here.

This seems to have worked well with Affeldt and may work well if they attempt to resign Justin Miller.

They seem to have the quirky personalities which thrive in this area as did Eric Byrnes while with the A's.

Zito was an attempt at the same thing but the dollars to talent ratio wasn't there and his style of pitching was always more suited to the AL.
my friend nick schneitman or however u spell it. got drafted by the rockies iin the 6th round i believe
hes a pitcher

and he told me todd helton is the nicest guy on the team when he met everyone. and he said matt holliday was the a dick
