Tricks, tips and advice for seeing games at AT&T park

I LOVE seeing games at that park! I get to anywhere from 10 to 20 games each season. Obviously the more you go the more you pick up on how to get the most out of a game. So I thought it might be cool to have a thread where Giants fans shared some of their secrets to visiting the park. Some of mine:

- Never park in their lot. There are several small lots on Townsend that almost always have room if you're on time. They're cheaper, quicker and closer. Of course that's assuming you can't find street parking.

- If you find yourself needing something warm when you get there but don't want to drop a bunch at the dugout store, the liqueur store on the corner of King and Third sells knock off Giants jackets for $20.

- M y $5 ball game plan: The Park has a free Bike check which is nice. I'll bike over to the park. No bridge toll. No parking. Check my bike. Buy a crappy $5 ticket and use it as standing room. The promenade level has some pretty good standing room sections and even give you a ledge to put your beer or dog. I'll watch from there for the first four innings or so, then I'll scope out a decent seat on the upper level if/when I get tired of standing. I'll still splurge for a dog and a beer of course. But outside of that, only $5 for a decent day at the Ballpark.

- If you buy tickets at the Ballpark, you won't have to pay any added fees like you do online or over the phone. Not always practical, but at times you could buy tickets for a future game while attending a current game and bypass paying a chunk of extra money.

-If you have kids, they let them go on the field and run the bases after Sunday home games. (You get to walk down the first base line and meet them at home plate)

That's all I can think of (that I want to share anyway). Anyone else have some little secrets/info about catching games at ATT?
Good share man. Unfortunately, I've only been to one game at the new ball park, so I do not have any advise.

Just a note about the promenade level. Starting about a month ago The Giants started checking tickets at the portwalk and bridge areas which allow access to scoreboard plaza on Friday and Saturday nights.

Unless you have a 100 level or SRO ticket you can't get to the area behind the scoreboard. No view or club level tickets are allowed through. They had problems with overflow crowds there and have also put security along the back wall overlooking the Ferry landing and allow NO STANDING in this area or smoking ANYTHING.

All smokers must leave the grounds to light up or risk ejection.

So the $5 stand plan isn't so great anymore since you have to stand behind the lower box sections.
I'm hoping to see a Giants game in August out here in Denver, and I guess the Rockos might be playing out in SF while I'm visiting family, so I'm hoping to watch my Giants whoop up both of those times. I've been to a few games out in SF and it's my favorite place to watch, by far.

Not anything that isn't on their website. http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/s...jsp#autographs

If you have a kid you can go on Sundays before the game. You get an autograph ticket and wait in line. You have no idea which player you're going to get. (the one time we did this the kid we were with got Matt Cain - Note it was last season before he broke out). The other way that I know of is to do what the website says. Get there right when the gates open and be near the field during batting practice. Obviously going on a day when it's going to be less crowded will help you. Say a weekday game when we're playing the Nationals.

That's too bad about limiting access. Still to be honest I'd choose the lower box angle above the arcade or scoreboard angle anyway, so it really doesn't bring my plan down so much. It would be nice to be able to catch one inning from the bleachers though so I could scope out a good upper level area to sit in. The whole idea really doesn't work as well if the place is really crowded. It would work best on say a Wed. day game when the park is 1/2 to 2/3 full.

Anyway I'll let you know how it goes.
