Remember this guy? The COULD NOT MISS prospect out of the Dominican Republic. He was going to make Pablo Sandoval expendable? Remember?

Then he gets busted in 2009 for murder (in his country). He turns himself in. Charges get dropped. Murder victim's family gets paid a lot of money, and no longer wants to prosecute. But the prosecutor wants to move forward with a trial anyway.

The last update on Angel was March 2010. That was almost a year ago.

Anyone have any idea what the latest is? Is he still with the Giants? Or did they cut him loose?

First, Charges were never dropped. He tried to buy his way out of the problem. He is not on any active roster and will not be until the trial is over. Even then, it will be highly unlikely the Giants will have anything to do with him, let alone any team in MLB, unless someone else is found guilty of the crimes and he is fully exonerated

That's too bad Ron -- because this kid apparently had a ton of promise. That doesn't always equal into a great career, but the writing on the wall said this kid was going to be pretty darn good.

Looks like the fame and fortune got to be a bit much for him and it went to his head.

It's a darn shame.
