hopefully this is just due to the break and our hitters are just a bit rusty. im sure that's what it is...at least I hope

WARNING: when a team is trying to package its 2 All-Star players from this season, maybe you should consider NOT buying into it.

Agree totally.

Pirates are trying to get back at us for pilfering Jason Schmidt and unloading the albatross that was Matt Morris.

A deal like that would be like bringing in TWO Ponson's

If the want us to take Duke AND Sanchez they must take Zito AND Renteria at their FULL contracts.

The Braves already suckered them out of there best (only?) talent

its too late once they get up to the majors.

the Giants farm system teaches aggressive hitting. swing hard, swing often, swing at the first pitch, it may be the best you see, etc.

problem is, unless you get a guy like Sandoval, who can do that, but always make contact, and be a great hitter, youre going to be a mediocre hitter that is fooled by good pitching nightly.

the one thing they do teach well, is contact. Giants hitters always make contact. they dont strike out alot. but they have zero patience. Bengie Molina has like 3 walks this year. thats it. and we always are up there as a team for hitting into DP's.

I agree too. They'll be asking way too much in a trade for even one of those two. If a trade can be done without giving up a top prospect I'd of course be all for it, since either of these guys could easily help this team, but realistically there is no shot of this happening.

i hate how when 1 guy is coming around..nobody else is hitting
like benjie had his strides..then pablo..then rowand..then winn..then nate...but they all were hitting like 1 week and we were going insane

Freddy Sanchez has been a good hitter for a while now and Duke would be the 3rd best pitcher in our rotation. I think its obvious that we need a power hitter, but we're not going to find that guy...PERIOD. Our next best bet is to get even MORE pitching.

I don't think you realize that the chance at success for a team like the Giants is never guaranteed. When you have a good team, you make a run THAT YEAR. You don't save for the future. WE AREN'T GOING TO BE COMPETITIVE LIKE THIS EVERY YEAR! Moreover, how often do pitching prospects flop?

This type of "thinking" is what makes teams horrible for long period of time. You need to make a run when you have a chance.

sanchez is a big upgrade at 2b

and duke is what we need cuz johnson is down and sadowski is struggling

also jon sanchez's stock is pretty high right now

OMG.. that is EXACTLY what I fear that Sabean is thinking. My greatest fear is that he is going to make a deal for someone like Freddy Sanchez and give up one of our top prospects. Talk about a deal that would haunt the Giants for years. Duke is OK but certainly not a star. Sanchez is a .300 hitter with no power at all and someone who would provide no impact.

You DONT sacrifice the future by making bad trades for guys that wont put you over the top. That much seems obvious to me.

you dont give up legit prospects for sanchez and duke PERIOD! you give the pirates 2nd tier or prospects you dont give a damn about. if they dont bite forget about it they'll lose sanchez regardless and getting nothing in return, its the pirates that wanna dump sanchez salary anyways. im worried to death once we get our top hitting prospects up here they'll look like idiots swinging at every bs pitch and not making the pitchers throw more pitches and work the count. im getting extremely upset with all this dumb hacking at everything and having the pitcher throw 1 or 2 pitches then an out.

Freddy Sanchez....meh. He's a decent player but I don't want to give up anything substantial for him.

for duke and sanchez i would trade sanchez lewis and downs/frandsen
