Now That the post season is just a dream

Now That the post season is just a dream what do the G-men do next?

It was a very very very successful season. Not expected by many, but if you ask my season ticket holder mom of 22 years I perdicted a winning, if not potential playoff team.

where do we go from here?

I say blow up the front office and start from scratch from there. Yes Bochy did a wonderful job with a limited lineup but he is too old skool and sabean too.

If you have followed prior posts you know how I feel. Lets get with the times of the MLB so we can get back to the playoffs and more winning seasons...

Your thoughts please......

Disagree with:
1) Signing Brad Penny unless it is a low base high incentive contract for 1 year
2) Trading J Sanchez unless its for a real impact bat - not a K guy like Dan Uggla thats for sure

As info...
You cant trade Randy Winn.. he will be a FA
No one is going to give you anything for Lewis, Bowker

Reality
This team will probably decline next year a bit. Its a terrible year for FA's, the team has no real trade bait, and their minor league hitters are not close to being ready. Unless Timmy and Cain can repeat the year they had this year or the Giants go nuts with a huge contract to Matt Holiday I see a .500 record in 2010.
We have trade bait, unfortunately it is the starting pitching. The only way we will get a big bat who doesn't strike out 170+ times a season is to trade one of them. From our point of view that would be Sanchez but I doubt he would be enough by himself to gain us that bat. Any trade involving Sanchez will need to be a package of players and possibly a third team. Taking a realistic look at this team who do we have that would be wanted by other teams.

Cain
Lincecum
Bumgarner
Panda
Wilson
Scheirholtz
Posey

are the only desirables on this team. They should also be the untouchables but coming off 5+ seasons of not getting the job done is anyone really untouchable?

if torres is on this team again next year then it means sabean and bochy got to keep their jobs and we are looking at a broken record spinning in place.

I Think Torres will be here. I don't think Velez will be.

I am hoping that Nate is

Velez will be here...for certain.

He's improved a lot both at the plate and at the multiple positions we put him at defensively.

And because he has improved and because he has speed, I think he is traded along with a pitcher for a bat.

Ok I wouldn't mind a trade. I thought you meant he'd be in the minors/released or something.

I like Velez though...he's showed some spunk for us.

Velez has been a nice surprise this season. I hate it when he hits a homerun tho. Because the next 10 ABs seem to be trying to repeat it.

Pete Rose once commented that the worse thing that can happen to a small ball player is when he hits the ball farther than he should. Velez falls into that trap every now and then.
Wtf sanchez is opting out.

So basically Sabean traded SF's second best pitching prospect for a midget that couldn't play everyday who was already damaged goods. Fail boat.
