call me crazy, but i'm a bit glad that they held onto aurilia. he's done pretty poorly this year and is at the end of his rope, but i still think he has something to provide this team in this atmosphere. he's the last of the guys from the last go-round with the playoffs. if nothing else, he should help with the demeanor of the clubhouse.

I think its fine to have Rich on the team with the callups. It might be a nice way to end his career. I just dont want him to hit in a key situation.

It is September and the Giants added six players today. More to come after Fresno plays its final game this week.
For now, Jesus Guzman, John Bowker and Waldis Joaquin have been recalled. Andres Torres and Rich Aurilia were activated from the DL. And the Giants purchase the contract of Brad Penny, who signed a minor league deal last night.
To clear a 40-man space for Penny, Emmanuel Burriss was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day DL.

How many total players can be added to the roster? I see that we've added 6. Is there hope that Posey gets a crack at it?

Posey better get a crack it, considering these stats and experience he could gain from participating first hand in a pennant race.
Team League AVG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB OBP SLG OPS
SJ CAL .326 80 291 63 95 23 0 13 58 157 45 6 0 .428 .540 .967
FRE PCL .321 35 131 21 42 8 1 5 22 67 17 23 0 1 .39 1 .511 .902
The most impressive stat is the K/AB ratio
