I read that the Giants are among some teams trying to get him. If they do want to get him and add to post season roster he must be sign by August 31st. So, if anything should happen, we expect it going to happen today?

This is a great pickup, and quite the bold move by Sabes. A smart and rare move by Sabes, which should lock up the 5th start problem. This also guarantees RJ as a reliever, which he doesnt mind from recent interviews.
I just hope Brad gets his NL form back.

Your mold move comment is just hillarious in both forums. So bold.. wow. Penny costs under 100K, costs the team nothing in compensation, and they can dump him after this yr. Wow Brian.. this took some real guts LOL
As far as RJ goes.. this signing had no impact whether RJ would be a starter or not when he came back. There was no way that a 46 year old Randy Johnson was going to be able to come back with 2 or 3 weeks left in the season and be stretched out enough to throw 5+ innings. Just was never going to happen.

Got a problem how I critique moves for teams? Since when did God make you the proverbial Giants guru? Pretty sad you have to critique my posts.

it comes down to how sabean feels more comfortable. there were two options
1) keep throwing out a different 5th starter until one of them clicks, and hope that they can handle the pressure of a pennant race as well as finally making it to the bigs.
2) grab a guy who has been there before. it wasn't too long ago that penny was throwing flames in the allstar game. that was back in san fran yeah?
if penny doesn't work out, johnson's still around the corner.

I may not be the guru of the Giants but I dont make really stupid comments like you made in your last post.
Sabean being bold .... LOL.. Too ****ing funny. RJ's role with the team being decided by Penny.. again just hillarious. Just once you should read your post and think if it really makes sense before you click on the submit reply button.

I don't know about Penny...I've been in Boston all summer and the Sox got rid of him for a reason. I was at that Sox-Yankees game a week or two ago, where Penny let it get to 8-1 in the 5th before getting the hook

well, 8 shutout innings tonight. For one night he is the best pickup in the ML.

Hopefully this is a sign of things turning around for Penny. As a fifth starter, we're just hoping he keeps us in the game. Of course, I wouldn't mind if he pitches like his previous all-star self.
