We made the kid a $1mil richer than he should be over the course of 4-5yrs...better than losing the pick.

I guess the slotting system doesn't really matter in baseball either. Oh well, hopefully he's another gem.

Why is anyone questioning the pitching prospects we draft? We are the best team in the MLB by far at developing and seeing talent in the game...as far as pitching goes..I could care less how much we pay them to sign......its not your money...do you really care if your seat goes up by a buck in order for the G-men to be in the payoff race.

Dude, chill out, no one is questioning the prospects...and I was EMPHASIZING that the extra $1mil is spread over 4-5yrs...so its not like we're going overboard.
But since you did bring up pitching prospects and our ability to develop them, what does Jerome Williams, Jesse Foppert, and Kurt Ainsworth have in common? They never panned out. And for good measure, Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano, and David Aardsma developed or reached their full potential in another organization.
But at the end, I do think that we do a decent job at developing pitchers.
